How to Find a Career – Aligning Work With Your Values
(And Creates Satisfaction)
The first step to finding a career that aligns with your values is to figure out what those values are. If you’re not sure, try asking yourself the following questions:
-What am I passionate about?
-What do I find rewarding?
-What makes me feel fulfilled and happy?
-What does my soul need and crave?
Once you’ve answered those questions, it’ll be easier for you to start looking for jobs. But if you still aren’t sure where to start, there are a few things you can do:
-Browse through job listings as they come across your social media feed or as they show up on your job search engine of choice. Keep an eye out for opportunities that sound like they might match up with what you want in a career. If the company doesn’t have anything available right now, follow them! You never know when they may offer something new. And make sure to apply! If their hiring process isn’t online, then call or email them at some point.
-Network with people who share similar interests or passions as you. They may know of some opportunities that are perfect for someone like yourself.
What to Look for in a New Career
Finding a new career can be challenging. But don’t worry, it doesn’t have to be! By following the tips below, you’ll be on your way to finding the perfect job in no time.
Look for jobs that align with your values.
One of the first things you should do before aligning work with values is to examine your values. What are some of your core values? Maybe you value creativity and innovation. Perhaps you emphasize making a difference in people’s lives. Whatever they may be, these are all qualities that will help you find a job that fits your personality and interests.
Also, think about how much money you want to make. Do you want to make enough money to pay off student loans? Or maybe you’re looking for a company where there are opportunities for advancement? Asking yourself these questions early on will make it easier for you when it comes time to apply for positions.
How to Stand Out from the Crowd
With so many people graduating from college each year, it’s getting more difficult to set yourself apart from the crowd. You need more than a degree to get noticed. You need an edge.
The first thing you’ll need is a resume that stands out from the rest. It should be tailored to your specific field and highlight your strengths and qualifications. The goal of your resume is not only to showcase your experience but also to show what you can do for the company. It should clearly define what you’re capable of and make it easy for employers to see how they can benefit from hiring you.
You want your resume to jump off the page when employers look at it or when recruiters search for candidates on sites like Indeed or Glassdoor. Be sure to include keywords in your skills section and throughout the document—including in any previous positions or internships that don’t correlate with your current industry or position—to boost your visibility in the applicant pool and show recruiters that you’re willing and able to work in any role required of them.
Another way you can stand out is by joining professional organizations and volunteer groups in your industry of interest, which will help you stay updated on trends in the field.
Choosing a Job That Aligns With Your Values
Choosing a job can be difficult, but it doesn’t have to be. Many factors go into choosing the right job for yourself, and this step is just as important as the previous steps.
In my years of experience hiring people for my company, I’ve seen that most people don’t choose a job because they’re looking for something they’ll enjoy. It’s not about passion but survival.
But what if you could find a job you love? A job where you feel valued and respected? Wouldn’t that be wonderful?
At my company, we help individuals find careers that give them the experience they want and the satisfaction they need. We work one-on-one with our clients to help ensure success in their new careers. My team and I can teach you all about finding a career that aligns with your values.
Do your research
And know your worth!
Many people struggle with knowing what they should be asking for – I get it. You want to make a good impression, and you don’t want to come off too strong, but that doesn’t mean you should undersell yourself! I can help you learn what to do and how to go about it so your potential employer will notice.
Start by researching salaries in your area and industry, or even in industries outside of your expertise. Find out how much the industry pays for the position you’re interested in. Once you know what other people in your field are making, you’ll have a better idea of what to ask for in salary negotiations.
It’s also important that you represent yourself well during the negotiation process. It’s okay to negotiate – many employers expect it these days! Make sure that when negotiating, you’re not only asking for more money but also requesting other benefits like flexible hours or working from home. Have a clear idea of what type of job offer would make you happy before going into negotiations.
Don’t just focus on the title of the job
When you’re looking for a job, the first thing you think to do is scour the internet for a list of jobs that match your experience level and location. Right?
If you do this, you might be missing out on some great opportunities. You might not even know it’s an opportunity unless you look at the company’s website and find out about their culture and values.
Many companies will rank their careers by how “exciting” they are. So if you just searched for “jobs,” then it would be hard to tell which opportunities were exciting and which ones were boring.
Instead, focus on what you want in a company. What type of culture and values does it have? Once you figure that out, go back to your list of jobs and search within those parameters. That way, all the options will be relevant to what you want.
